I keep thinking about Karen Armstrong's notion of the second Axial Age and the notion that the "next Buddha is the sangha" — and the concept you're pointing to here feels absolutely essential to both notions.

The first Axial Age was about a charismatic figurehead receiving a transmission of sorts and then becoming deified by their followers. There's power in this, especially when it comes to forming community. But I'm hopeful that the second Axial Age will be about groups of people with a variety of skill sets coming together to integrate the head and the heart, knowing that no one of us — not even the most talented guru — holds all the answers to life's mysteries.
